Instead of our regularly scheduled Florida Friday, today I’m thrilled to announce the second winner of our Free Destination Wedding Photography Contest.

Congratulations to Holly & Adam This lucky couple will be having their wedding photographed by me, Shari Bare Photography, exactly one year from today on September 5, 2009 in Iron Mountain, Michigan, a lovely town in the Upper Peninsula (or “U.P.” to those who live there, as I’m told).

I picked Holly and Adam because I loved the photos they sent me of this quaint little town. I love nature and small town America. As Holly put it, “it is definitely not your typical wedding location.” The waterfalls, lakes, and, trees are all so gorgeous and serene.

The church they are getting married at is just too cute. The Immaculate Conception Church of Iron Mountain MI was built in 5 months in 1902 by a dedicated priest and his parishioners at a cost of $4,000. It’s Listed on the National and State Historic Registers.

Holly and Adam also have a wonderful love story, and I know they will be a great couple to photograph. I’m looking forward to seeing y’all in a year!

It’s been so hard narrowing down all the great entries for our Free Destination Wedding Photography Contest. But, as promised, it’s September 1st so we have our first winner.

Congratulations to Jaqueline and John. This lucky couple will be having their wedding photographed by Steeves Photography (that’s Shannon and Ford) on April 18, 2009 in Los Angeles!

Shannon picked Jaqueline and John because she really connected to their story of how they met and how much he obviously adores her. “Their wedding sounds like it’s going to have elements of culture plus an old world feel mixed with modern and artistic,” Shannon said. It sounds wonderful!

We’re going to make you wait a few more days to hear who the second lucky couple is, who will have their wedding photographed by me (Shari Bare Photography). Please check back by the end of the week.

We’ve gotten some really great submissions. Unfortunately, Shannon and I are already booked on many of them. So we’ve decided to extent the contest for another week, until August 22nd.

Please keep those submissions coming in! And don’t be worry about writing an essay. Sure, we love to hear a good story, but just a line or two about your wedding location is great too ☺

We will contact you if we are already booked on your date. So if you haven’t gotten an email yet, it means you’re still in the running. Winners will be announced on September 1, 2008.

In celebration of our new blog, we are having a free destination wedding photography contest. Since there are two of us, two lucky couples will get their destination wedding photographed free of charge!

Because our blog is all about destination weddings and travel, we’re looking for entries from couples that are planning original and inspiring weddings in fantastic locations. It’s all about uniqueness and creativity!

Maybe you’re getting married somewhere common, like Hawaii, but you’re putting a totally new twist on it. Or maybe you’ve picked somewhere totally different. Surprise us! Delight us!

What the two winning couples will receive:
(value of at least $5000)

• Full wedding day coverage from either Shari Bare Photography or Steeves Photography.
• Either rehearsal dinner or day-after coverage.
• High resolution edited jpeg images delivered on DVD.
• Online posting of all images in a web gallery.

What we need from you:

• A kick-ass story with at least one photo of you and your fiancé!
• Must have a destination wedding scheduled between October 2008 and December 2009 with a set date and location.
• Must be able to provide the cost of airfare and transfers for two and one hotel room for three nights.
• Shari and Shannon both live in Southwest Florida, and the closest airport for them will usually be Fort Myers International (RSW).

How to enter:

• The deadline for entries is August 15, 2008
• Final selections will be announced on September 1, 2008
• Of course, we want you to have the photographer that’s perfect for you. So, Shari and Shannon will each pick one couple.
